Onboard chargers (OBCs)

The onboard charger is a key component for charging the high-voltage battery (HV battery) and an essential component of the electric vehicle ecosystem. Regardless of whether the HV battery is charged by converting alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC) or whether the vehicle can even feed electricity back into the grid, MAHLE OBCs always ensure an efficient and safe charging process.

As OE parts, the onboard chargers from MAHLE Lifecycle and Mobility meet the highest quality standards. MAHLE OBCs not only ensure electromagnetic compatibility, they also control communication with the charging station and support future-proof functions such as bidirectional and inductive charging.

Input filters

MAHLE OE-quality input filters protect the battery as well as the charging and power electronics from overvoltage and electromagnetic interference when charging electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, and ensure stable current flow.

The durable input filters from MAHLE meet the exact specifications of the components installed by the vehicle manufacturers, guaranteeing perfect fit and function.

Electric drive Systems

MAHLE Electric Drives has plenty to offer to manufacturers of electrically powered vehicles and repair shops that service them: for example DC and AC motors, brushless permanent magnet motors, regulators and master control units, magnetic switches, displays, and keypads. Areas of application range from automotive to forklifts to cleaning vehicles. But that's not all—besides drives and controllers, they also include hydraulic systems. They are even used in ships, for electric cable winches, and in air conditioning systems. Our experienced engineers are happy to help developers with new applications.

Control and power electronics

TWO TOP TEAMS: MAHLE AND NAGARES

As a global development partner for the international automotive and engine industry, MAHLE stands for innovative, efficient solutions in the areas of engine systems, filtration, thermal management,

and electrics/mechatronics. The Spanish electronics specialist Nagares develops and produces control and power electronics for electric auxiliary components, thermal management systems, and e-mobility.

Its portfolio includes the following products:

  • Actuators and switches
  • Electronic products such as diesel glow plugs and low voltage motor control units, acoustic warning signal controllers or battery separation electronics
  • High-performance electronics like the DC/DC converter
  • Various sensors

Launch of new glow plug control modules for diesel vehicles

As technology continues to advance, MAHLE remains committed to supporting users of old technologies. MAHLE thus continues to assist drivers of diesel vehicles by ensuring that these vehicles remain reliable well into the future.

Our expansion of the electronics diesel range underscores our dedication to extending the lifespan of older vehicles. This initiative marks a continuation of our legacy that began 41 years ago with the introduction of the first preheating timer to a leading OE manufacturer in Europe. By offering the final version of this product, just before the complete cessation of diesel production, we will become the last man standing in terms of the development and production of diesel power technologies.

This range extension is strategically designed to address the growing demand for diesel components that are increasingly being phased out by major international aftermarket suppliers. Our new product line will cover 50% more applications compared to our historical premium quality electronic modules.
