MAHLE Aftermarket Inc. Congratulates Jimmie Johnson on His Homestead Race Win and Seventh NASCAR® Sprint Cup Championship

Farmington Hills, MI…November 23, 2016 – NASCAR Contingency sponsor, MAHLE Aftermarket Inc., congratulates Jimmie Johnson on his historic seventh NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship win, driving the Lowe’s Chevrolet SS for Hendrick Motorsports at Homestead-Miami Speedway

Johnson is now tied with Hall of Famers from the inaugural class, Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt Sr., as the sport’s only seven-time Champions. It was Johnson’s 80th career victory and his series-high fifth win of the year.

Johnson struggled much of the weekend, and much of the race, leading only seven of the 268-laps, but great driving skills, a little luck and pit adjustment strategy led to an amazing three lap race to the finish. “So thrilled to be in this moment,” said Johnson as the celebration started. “In my heart, I wanted to believe it would happen, it has and I just can’t believe it.” Johnson and his team will be honored on December 2nd at the series awards banquet in Las Vegas, NV.

“We at MAHLE Aftermarket Inc. send out our heart-felt congratulations to Jimmie Johnson on his historic run in the sport of NASCAR.” Stated Jon Douglas, General Manager of MAHLE Aftermarket Inc. “To win seven championships in only 11 years is a testament to his incredible driving abilities and his status as a true champion, and we are thankful that he and the team at Hendrick have taken our engine bearings along for the ride.”
