Turbochargers in modern vehicles increase performance and reduce CO2 emissions. With the trend toward smaller, turbocharged engines, their numbers are rising steadily.

They have gained widespread acceptance in direct injection diesel engines. While there have been substantial increases in turbo-diesel engines in recent years, this trend is now evident in petrol engines as well.

According to research, the global aftermarket for turbochargers accounts for more than EUR 1 billion today and will grow to approximately EUR 1.7 billion by 2018. Worldwide there will be over 550 million vehicles with exhaust gas turbochargers, according to estimates.
