MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS calibration tool for driver assistance systems wins the KRAFTHAND Technology Award

Stuttgart, November 27, 2018 – Until now, printed tables placed in front of the vehicle were used for the calibration of driver assistance systems. The MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS calibration tool replaces this complicated solution with a smart idea: a digital calibration panel on a flat-screen monitor. Workshops therefore no longer need to keep numerous tables for the different vehicle models: the tables for new types of vehicles are automatically stored when the system is updated. This also impressed the KRAFTHAND specialist jury, who rewarded the innovation from the workshop solution provider MAHLE with first place in the Krafthand Technology Award.

  • Jury recognizes MAHLE’s solution and service competence for workshops with this award
  • MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS impresses thanks to its quick, universal, and simple calibration and opens up new sales potential for workshops
  • Specialist jury won over by MAHLE’s sustainable digital solution, which makes cumbersome calibration tables unnecessary

Focus on cost effectiveness

“MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS is the result of our close contact with workshops. We saw the calibration problems in practice and developed a suitable solution. And it came at just the right time. In the next few years, both the number of driver assistance systems and the percentage of passenger cars and trucks equipped with these systems will grow significantly. This will greatly change the way in which workshops work,” says Olaf Henning, Corporate Executive Vice President and General Manager MAHLE Aftermarket. “MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS makes calibration simple, quick, and universal and therefore economical for the workshops.”

Approved by professionals

The Krafthand jury consists of experienced vehicle experts who judge primarily on one criterion—the actual benefit in practice. The tasks involved are becoming increasingly complex. Whether they use radars, cameras, or ultrasonic sensors, more and more late-model cars have high-tech driver assistance systems, known as ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). Until now, multibrand workshops faced challenges when calibrating different makes because the driver assistance systems were built completely differently depending on the vehicle, resulting in high investment and operating costs. The TechPRO® Digital ADAS transforms the challenge into an opportunity—by adjusting the sensors and cameras in driver assistance systems quickly and precisely, workshops can capture additional sales potential.

MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS—an all-round success

With MAHLE TechPRO® Digital ADAS, the developers at MAHLE Aftermarket have redefined the entire calibration process. To recalibrate an assistance system, the workshop technician simply connects the TechPRO® diagnostic tool to the appropriate control units via the onboard diagnostics. The calibration panel is set up according to the manufacturer’s directions and adjusted automatically. Next, the TechPRO® diagnostic tool shows exactly what needs to be done and guides the workshop technician through each of the steps. The system is continuously updated and can be used for vehicles that have one or more driver assistance systems retrofitted over time. Workshops can also use TechPRO® ADAS for new assistance systems. The ADAS tool is a supplemental solution for the TechPRO® vehicle diagnostics system or Connex BT from MAHLE Aftermarket. At market launch, the calibration system covers many German and other European makes that are equipped with driver assistance systems, and market coverage is being continuously expanded. Workshops can rely on TechPRO® Digital ADAS to keep up with new vehicle models and all the technical developments in the field of assistance systems.
