Markets, regions, trends: MAHLE Aftermarket internationally well positioned

Stuttgart, 16 September 2015 – The increasing electrification of the automobile is a global trend and dominant topic for OEMs and suppliers alike. MAHLE Aftermarket is well positioned for future mobility and is meeting the requirements of tomorrow with its growing portfolio of products, complete solutions, and services—a strategy that is reflected internationally on sales. Despite the current market development in China, MAHLE Aftermarket is anticipating great things from the Asia-Pacific market.

In 2015, MAHLE Aftermarket aims to achieve an increase in sales of around five percent compared with the previous year. In this context, the MAHLE business unit specialising in spare parts and service is expecting a moderate increase in the European figures, notwithstanding the current situation in Russia and Ukraine. “North America is also among the markets experiencing a positive development in sales of high-quality accessory parts. A favourable currency exchange rate between the US dollar and the euro further amplifies this trend”, explains Olaf Henning, Member of the MAHLE Management Committee and Managing Director of MAHLE Aftermarket GmbH. “The business in South America, however, is falling short of expectations. The local economic conditions are inducing uncertainty among consumers, which leads to deferred repairs and in turn to a decline in market demand.” Sales experts at MAHLE Aftermarket are also eagerly monitoring developments in the Asia-Pacific region. This area is currently showing double-digit growth; the slower growth of the Chinese economy has not yet shown any impact on sales. “The Asia-Pacific region certainly plays an important role in our global growth strategy. On the one hand, the fleet of vehicles in this region has steadily grown, but on the other hand, the average age of the vehicles has risen. Maintenance requirements are growing accordingly. Today, the population at large is also attaching considerably greater importance to repairs, care, and maintenance than before”, explains Olaf Henning.
