Frankfurt, 11 September 2012 – The MAHLE product range for the independent spare parts market is enhanced by the addition of thermostats. In doing so, MAHLE will assume responsibility for the distribution of Behr Thermot-tronik thermostats as well as establish its own range under the MAHLE Original brand.

MAHLE Aftermarket and Behr Thermot-tronik (BTT) reached this agreement in the run-up to this year’s Automechanika. The objective is to drive the expansion of the aftermarket business for the Behr subsidiary, which will benefit from the MAHLE Aftermarket distribution network as well as from the various sales-supporting concepts of the Stuttgart-based company.

The Behr thermostat range includes thermostat inserts, housing thermostats, map-controlled thermostats, thermal switches, and numerous supplementary products for passenger cars as well as light and heavy commercial vehicles.

The plans of the two partners include a major expansion of the product range, the improvement of delivery capacity, and the internationalisation of the customer base. In future, products will be manufactured at all Behr production sites and joint ventures for thermostats: among others, Kornwestheim and Berga (Germany), Holyszov (Czech Republic), Grugliasco (Italy), Queretaro (Mexico), Changwon (Korea), and Qingdao (China).

Initially, the products of both brands will be dispatched from the central MAHLE logistics centre in Schorndorf / Stuttgart (Germany). The many regional warehouses will follow at a later stage. According to current forecasts, product sales will commence in February 2013 at the very latest.

At the Automechanika, MAHLE is presenting its extensive product range in original equipment quality to existing and new customers, and will also discuss the intensification of co-operation with existing BTT customers.
