Welcome to this edition of MAHLE Aftermarket news – the source for an in-depth look at everything relating to MAHLE Clevite – and how it pertains to you, our customer. So often in our business we hear many different metaphors about connecting the past to the future – and how we succeed in the present. While “Bridging the Gap” may be a tad cliché, we contend that the bridge has been built, only it is a bridge between the present and future … and we are walking it now. The hardware and technology that will usher in a new era in the way we do business as an industry is already there. Too much has changed for us to look back on the past; there is no turning back now. The automotive aftermarket has embarked on a journey into the future, the past is way behind, and the present is entering the rear-view mirror. We are on the entrance ramp to Interstate FUTURE, and like the “troubled waters” that Simon & Garfunkel sang of in the ‘70s, you can count on MAHLE Clevite to build the bridge – and be the ones to escort them to the other side … into the Future.

Welcome to this edition of MAHLE Aftermarket news – keeping you connected to everything going on at MAHLE Clevite, and how it pertains to you – our customer. Connections come in all different varieties. The relationships that we have with our distributors, as well as the ability to support them in their connection with their customers – namely the ones that install our parts – are what drives our business. One important initiative is increasing our connection with the entire west coast with expanded inventory in our California Customer Care Center. For us, one of the most exciting projects of 2011 is increasing our connection to technicians. Yes we are now proudly part of the ExtremeWrench family with MAHLE Original filters – but launching an all new Social Media presence is key to bridging the gap to those that use our products. For a supplier of engine parts and products for the engine periphery – we are specializing in building bridges – increasing connections that lead to selling more parts, and servicing those that make a living installing those parts.

From grade school through high school, then out into the “Real World” - most people are familiar with the expression: “Like comparing apples to oranges.” Normally this describes a comparison between two things that are not necessarily alike. Although typically one is not better than the other, it is just a way of saying that two things are different. However, when MAHLE Clevite is involved in an “apples to oranges” comparison, rarely are they equal. Whether the apples measure the quality of the parts or the service levels that are behind the quality; invariably there are more apples involved in MAHLE Clevite product than the competitors. Another instance is measuring price differences. Every Victor Reinz® gasket set contains every part needed to complete the job - many competitors provide half the parts needed for the same job but at a similar price or a few dollars less. Of course, just having the parts is not always enough - they need to be the right parts. As a proud supporter of the AASA Know Your Parts campaign, every customer can take for granted that any part in a MAHLE package was manufactured to the exacting standards engine builders demand. This issue of MAHLE Aftermarket news is dedicated to proving that quality is the backbone of the entire organization - in both products and people. Every purchase decision must be evaluated on common ground, and like comparing apples to oranges, comparing MAHLE Clevite to anyone else is no comparison at all.

Aftermarket news Issue 2/2008
History has given us many innovations. In the totality of human civilization, none are greater than that of the wheel. The wheel was immensely important during the industrial revolution. It was during this time, and because of the wheel, that steam engines, railroads, and factories were built. Most importantly of course, the automobile came into being. Invented in 1886 by Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz, and first mass-produced in the United States by Ransom E. Olds in 1901, the automobile has set the gold standard for transportation around the world. It is because of this innovation that we are able to travel great distances in record time. It is because of these innovations, and the constant need for improvement, that MAHLE came into being. At MAHLE, innovation has a long tradition. Right from the start, the founders of the Company worked towards one objective; to make the good even better. MAHLE follows this philosophy to this very day. In the MAHLE tradition of innovation, this issue of the MAHLE Aftermarket news delves into the development of the downsizing engine; the use of mahlecleviteorder.com; our new PIM system; and many more exciting technologies! Enjoy this edition of the MAHLE Aftermarket news.

For a seed in a garden, successful growth involves many factors. Fertile soil, exposure to sunlight, and plenty of water are requirements for that seed to grow, blossom, and bear fruit. Likewise, succeeding in aftermarket replacement parts necessitates similar care, and the help of many more outside factors. As players in the Automotive Aftermarket, MAHLE customers already provide the care they need to make their success grow – but they must lean on suppliers to offer the soil, sunlight, and water as in the case of the seed. MAHLE takes this role very seriously as proven in the latest edition of the MAHLE Aftermarket news. Valuable brands, cutting edge technology in products and services, as well as dynamic eCapabilities highlight an array of factors designed to help our customers achieve success. This edition delves into some of the many factors MAHLE uses to succeed – as well as ensure success for customers like BWP Distributors (featured in the “Customer Portrait” on page 14). Enjoy this edition and watch your mailbox in a couple months as the next one is coming your way soon…
